Avesta Group is actively looking to assemble a team of researchers for a comprehensive 9 months study centred around anthropology and cultural intangible heritage in Saudi Arabia. Whether your expertise lies in anthropology, sociology, comparative literature, linguistics, or you possess a humanities background, if you have a deep interest in investigating and understanding living heritage, we warmly welcome you to join our dedicated team of researchers.

Type of contract: Freelance

Compensation: Based on profile

Starting Date: As soon as possible

Location: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia / Remote

Profile:

  • Master's degree in Anthropology, History, Sociology, Comparative Literature, Linguistics, or Humanities
  • Knowledge of the Arab World is mandatory
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in research projects
  • Familiarity with research tools and techniques
  • Open-mindedness and ability to work in an international and multicultural environment
  • Team spirit, diplomacy, and professional presentation
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and attention to detail skills
  • Fluent command of spoken and written Arabic and English is mandatory
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities:

As a junior researcher, your responsibilities may include:

  • Literature Review: Conducting extensive literature reviews to gain a comprehensive understanding of existing theories, concepts, and research related to the area of the study. It includes the creation of list of references and bibliographies
  • Data Collection: Assisting in collecting data through various methods such as participant observation, interviews, surveys, or archival research. This may involve engaging with communities or individuals to gather primary data.
  • Data Management: Assisting in organising and managing resources and collections. This can involve cataloging books, articles, databases, or other reference materials for easy accessibility and retrieval.
  • Data Analysis: Analyzing collected data using qualitative or quantitative research methods, depending on the nature of the research project. This could involve coding and categorizing qualitative data, statistical analysis, or employing anthropological frameworks for interpretation.
  • Fieldwork: Participating in fieldwork activities, observing and documenting practices, and interacting with individuals or communities to gain insights.
  • Research Collaboration: Collaborating with senior researchers or team members on research projects, contributing to discussions, sharing findings, and providing input during research design and implementation phases.
  • Report Writing: Contribute to the presentation and articulation of the research. This involves presenting the research methodology, analysis, and conclusions in a clear and coherent manner.
  • Additional duties as assigned
